Automation of the Beauty Industry

In an era where cars run on batteries, our phones can be used to purchase groceries and robots clean up after us, it was only a matter of time before the beauty industry embraced technology. With the rapid advancements of innovative technologies, consumers are now able to access professional salon quality services within the comfort of their own home. Talk about convenience!

From a hairbrush that tracks the state of your hair and suggests products and techniques to help nourish it, to mirrors that suggest personalised skin care routines, there is something for everyone. If that isn’t enough, we hear that in the near future smart mirrors will even be able to print sample sheets of foundation and concealer made of a material typically used in surgery, that can be applied directly to the skin, like temporary tattoos.

However, one of the greatest innovations in the industry is LED light therapy.

But, what is LED light therapy?

Light emitting diode, more commonly referred to as LED, emits wavelengths of light which penetrate the dermis of the skin. It is a non-painful and non-invasive treatment targeted at reducing acne, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, inflammation from scarring, improving uneven skin tone, reducing pore size and, brightening the skin.

Traditionally administered by professionals during facials, the beauty industry has recently experienced an influx of handheld LED devices that can be administered at home.

Below we have listed a few of the products currently on the market.
